Weird Dream
Boiling thunder and crimson lightning
colors vivid but far away
walls transparent and not quite there
representation and symbolism
explosions of sound, of color, of light
in the sky, in the room, in my head
overwhelming; where'd it go?
all around but completely absent
contradiction and hyperbole
colors beyond description
lines of liquid time
raining down in sheets
shimmering rocks and stoic skies
right in front of you
a million miles away
trapped in space
trapped in time
a fixture in a world apart
bubbling solids, cracked gases
halos of darkness
people and creatures beyond description
vast in scale, moving slowly
divide and subdivide
blend together
wholly unreal, but actually there
thunder and lightning all around
oceans of time filled up with rain
land drains away as iron lakes form
skyscrapers of flesh and people of stone
fantastic and horrible
delightful and frightening
blaring music in some other language
silence profound and eternal
dancing, swinging, standing still
birds that are trees and flying flowers
with skeleton wings and poison fangs
figures of history, but all are children
images that fade away and penetrate my eyes
moving faster than the rays of light
spinning globes and pools of darkness
a brilliant white sky with purple stars
The stars are on the ground
and I look down at them
the earth surrounds the sky
I'm fastened to the ceiling
But I can touch the world
for I'm one thousand feet tall
and the world is younger than me
wisps of light and smoke
encompass everything
still the lightning, still the thunder
so close I can taste them
they taste bitter
with a rough texture
they hurt my mouth
they sting and burn
and I explode
and countless waves of green dots come out
all the world develops cracks
the crimson waves of pain freeze still
the violet sky with its magic invisible stars
more wisps of ebony smoke
more shattered dreams
more lightning
more thunder
one more explosion
I leave the seven skies
I leave the infinite voids
I say goodbye to all the people
the smoke dissolves away
it all fades to darkness
and I wake up
